William J. Komarnicki

William J. Komarnicki, age 68, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 after complications from surgery. Bill grew up in Wallingford PA, and spent his adult life in Wilmington DE.

Everyone loved Bill. Strong, tall, and handsome, his physical presence could be intimidating, but he was a gentle soul, non-judgmental and easy to be with, quick with a smile and a kind, supportive word.

In his youth Bill was an exceptional athlete. He was a star quarterback in high school and college. At Ursinus College, his alma mater, he once played seven different positions in one season! He was an MVP shortstop in baseball, and also excelled at swimming, golf, and racquetball.

As a big brother to Bob and Betty, he was a hero, teacher, and confidant. From Bill they learned to throw a ball, drive a car, and be a good friend.

In his thirties, Bill met his true love and life partner, Pam Rush. Together, they built a life of love, mutual support, and adventure. They enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, creating arts and crafts, and collecting at auctions. They also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his partner, Pamela Rush of Wilmington DE, brother, Robert Komarnicki of West Chester PA, sister, Betty Nero of Danbury CT, niece, Amanda Topley of Philadelphia, nephew, Peter Komarnicki of Chester PA, and dozens of cousins and extended family members. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph and Doris Komarnicki.

A memorial luncheon for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 12-4 at Timothy’s Riverfront Grill (930 Justison St, Wilmington, DE 19801).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders (https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org)
