Ruth S. Bulterman

Ruth S. Bulterman, loving mother, grandmother and friend, age 96, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022.

Ruth was born in 1925 to Alma Tittermary and Jack Scarborough. She spent most of her childhood in Chincoteague, Virginia moving to Upper Darby, Pennsylvania where she attended school and later met and married Leo Joseph Bulterman.

She will be missed most for her loving nature, wit, resilience, and kindness. She had an unerring sense of style and fashion and after raising her daughters, Ruth dressed and styled countless women with her daughter, Carol at Style in Wilmington, Delaware. She loved travelling to New York for buying trips and bringing her own sense of style back to Delaware. She loved travel and most of all beaches. She spent many summers in Long Beach Island and Ocean City, New Jersey and Bethany Beach, Delaware. In the winters she loved Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She was an avid reader and loved flowers, dogs, parties, a good cocktail, great food, Christmas, Hershey Bars, and the New York Times crossword puzzle which she always completed with a pen.
Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unwavering. She never missed an opportunity to let them know how much they meant to her and how she adored them.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Leo Joseph Bulterman in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Carol L. McKennon ( Robert), Lisa A. Ivins ( Seth) and her grandchildren, Carter Robert McKennon (Emma), Ethan Lee Ivins, and Olivia Alexandra Ivins.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a gift in Ruth’s memory to Children & Families First (CFFDE), Children & Families First, Attn: Friends Campaign, P.O. Box 1477, Hockessin, Delaware 19707 or visit cffde.org

Condolences

Jacklyn Hagenbach lit a candle and writes,
Lisa, Seth Ethan and Liv So sorry for your loss of your beautiful mom and Nanny. What a wonderful life she lived. And in her own home right till the end! I only met Ruth once or twice but knowing how awesome you and your families are, she had to be a kind and loving, witty and special person. I’ve learned a whole lot of “Ruthism’s” over the years from knowing you. She will live on in your hearts forever. Keeping you and all of your family in our prayers. Love you, Jackie & Lee
