Rosalind J. Hoffmann

Rosalind “Roz” J. Hoffmann, age 92, of Greenville, Delaware, passed away peacefully in her home of 64 years surrounded by her loving family on July 12, 2021.

Roz was born on September 21, 1928 in Allendale, SC and grew up in Augusta, GA. She married James Hoffmann in 1953 and moved to Delaware, never looking back yet never losing her southern accent!

After raising her three sons, she fell in love with the art of making porcelain dolls. She was extremely talented and produced over 500 dolls in her home studio over the next 25 years.

Roz enjoyed spending her winters in Estero, FL with her husband Jim, along with many trips across the country with the Holiday Ramblers Club.

Roz was preceded in death by her husband Jim and her brother Harry. She is survived by her three sons David (Olivia Ann) of Texas, James Jr. (Patricia Cole) of Vermont, John (Debbie) of Greenville; three granddaughters, Kathleen (James), Krista (Gavin) both of Pike Creek, Brett Ashley (Jason) of Texas; and three great-grandchildren: Nic, Justin, and Madeline.

Services and burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

My most heartfelt condolences to Roz's entire family. Though I have never met Roz, or knew her, a strange coincidence occured this morning July 28, 2021. I'm a novice doll collector and while reading a Hobbyist doll book, glued to the dust jacket is a ID tag of ROZ's dolls with address. So out of curiosity I googled the shop name to see if by chance it was still open. To my dismay Rosalinds obituary popped up. Saddened by the news, I decided to reach out. According to Wikipedia Rosalind was a very gifted woman, and without a doubt had many, many family and friends who will miss her tremendously. God Bless you and your family members, Edward Espinoza

Jimmy, I remember my first girl/boy party, a taffy pull in your basement rec room! The Beach Boys playing! Still have the charm bracelet your sweet Mom orchestrated for you to give to me. Gosh, we were in fifth grade!! Be well! Hugs, Barbara

I'm truly sorry to learn of Roz's passing. We became good friends when I was living in Delaware making porcelain dolls. We collaborated on many dolls over the years and I taught porcelain doll painting seminars in her studio. Roz was one of the loveliest people I met while living in the first state. When I moved out of state we stayed in touch until recently. Missing her I thought I would see if she was in Florida or DE. That's when I found this obituary. Such a generous soul. I will always treasure her memory and our times together in doll land. Sending Love and condolences to her family.
