Robert J. Rae

Robert John Rae, age 63, of Bear, DE, formerly of Jenkintown, PA, passed away at home on August 18, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Born in 1957 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Donald Sr. and M. Barbara Rae. Bob was a 1976 graduate of Jenkintown High School. He began a successful career in car sales in 1985, ending his career with a fantastic group at Mall Chevy in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Denise and their children Diana Rae Shaw, Nicole Rae Rittenhouse and Denise Alexandria Rae; grandchildren Thomas J. Shaw, Luca F. Shaw and Mason L. Rittenhouse. He is also survived by father-in-law, Frank Bozzi, siblings Debbie, Kevin (Peg), Donald (Maria), Barbara (Ron), Kathy (Ken), Michael (Loretta), Alex (Renee), Debbie B. (Joe), Sandy (Rob) and Denise (Paul) along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob was a husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend – but the titles he was most proud of were dad and pop. He was a big kid at heart – whether it was a boat, fancy motorcycles, firearms, four wheelers, go karts, fireworks or snowmobiles, you name it, he had it and always made sure his kids and grandkids got the same. You were never near Bob without the sound of an industrial fan nearby. Cowboy boots were his primary choice of footwear, no matter the outfit. He was a lifelong Eagles fan- Go Birds! You would never ask Bob a question unless you wanted a brutally honest answer. He was someone you could call at any time, and if you needed him, he was there. A fierce protector to his family, generous, loyal and loving till the end.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 1:00 PM at St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, Newark DE 19702. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Toys for Tots or the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute at 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd, Newark, DE 19713.

I worked with Bob for 8yrs and knew him for over 30yrs. Under that tough exterior was a kind caring man that would always be there to help at work or outside the dealership. He called me junior and looked out for me like I was part of his family. I was part of his initial work family. He taught me so much over the years. I feel privileged to have Known and worked with him so long. He was a great person/man. The Rae’s - May the love, support and memories of your friends and family help your all through these tough times. My deepest condolences Love ya, Bob

Bob and I worked together in my early years in the car business before transitioning to the medical field , although Bob and I were only 7 years apart, he was a mentor to me about work, life and family and anyone who knew Bob knew how much he cared about his family. He always talked about them when we were at work or out and having a beer. Bob was always someone you could count on and if you needed anything from him he would just say OK when are we doing it!! It was an honor to know him. May God continue to watch over you and the rest of your family.
