Robert Iangar of Bear, Delaware son of the late Connie and Raj, passed away April 16, 2025. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Temple University. Bob’s career in the financial services and health insurance professions led to moves to CA, MA, CT, PA and MD. He formed long-standing friendships wherever he lived. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers and Phillies fan and traveled to away games to watch them play. He was a voracious reader of American History, math whiz and the best dog sitter. His favorite “activity” was going to dinner at his friend Luigi Vitrone’s Pastabilities restaurant. Bob was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. In retirement he became an enthusiastic member of his neighborhoods in Wilmington and Bear and enjoyed meeting residents. He was a quiet, gentle man who took nothing for granted. Bob was predeceased by his parents, grandparents and precious pups Boris, Sparky, Mae and Colbie. He is survived by his heartbroken sister Asha, his aunts and uncles NC and V Vasuki, KS and P Vasudev, his cousin Vinnie and his family Sue and M. In addition, Bob leaves behind his childhood BFF Daniel, Doris, Luigi, Charlie, friends in CA: John, Larry, Renee D, Jerry, Mark, Renee and Curk, Steve from GA, Tom from AL, Ted from DC, and also Karen M and Karine. Thanks also to Dr. Niesen and his staff.
Funeral services were private. There will be celebrations of his life in the coming weeks. I thank those who extended the hand of friendship to Bob wherever he lived and the words of comfort and love you have expressed to me. If you wish to honor Bob’s memory, in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local animal shelters (as he loved all creatures great and small) the Sunday Breakfast Mission (sundaybreakfastmission.org) and the Food Bank of Delaware (fbd.org) or other food pantries.
When he was a baby, my brother had a beautiful smile and laugh that captivated everyone who saw him. “Bobby, you were supposed to outlive all of us; I miss you more than I ever thought possible. You will forever be the Man of a Thousand Mysteries. Rest in peace beloved baby brother. Forgive me.”
