Raymond E. Richardson, Jr.

Raymond E. Richardson, Jr., age 72, passed away at home where he wanted to be, on Wednesday, October 21,2026 with family by his side.

A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Ray retired from the duPont experimental station in 2016 after a 42 year career in analytical chemistry. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and owned several motorcycles over the years. He also enjoyed Formula One racing and WWII documentaries. A lover of dogs, he was often found walking his dog around the neighborhood. Carrying treats to share with other dogs he met along the way. His off-beat sense of humor will be missed by all.

Ray was predeceased by his parents Raymond E. Richardson, Sr. and Margaret Orth Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara, his daughters, Stacey Allmond (Brad), and Rachel Richardson and his grandchildren, Wheeler, Dawson and April.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice of Delaware and Mandi Lane of Starlight Services, for their kind and gentle care.

Services will be private.
