Raymona Blakley Shaver Hauser

Raymona “Ronnie” Blakley Shaver Hauser, age 89, of Wilmington, formerly of Hockessin, passed away on April 15, 2021 at HarborChase.

Ronnie was born in Enid, Oklahoma to the late Daniel Guy Blakley and Ollie Sophia Raymond Blakley. Both parents were teachers who were each awarded the Valley Forge Freedom Foundation Medal of Honor as outstanding teachers in their fields. She followed her parents example and became a teacher. Ronnie received both her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree from Kansas University. She taught in Wichita, Kansas until she and her family moved to Wilmington, Delaware.

Ronnie taught in the Alfred I. du Pont School District that later became the Brandywine School District. She taught primary grades for more than 30 years. Ronnie was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi. She served as chapter president of Alpha Delta Kappa and later served as State President. At her retirement dinner she made the statement that she was one of the fortunate ones. She found something she loved to do and then discovered she was really good at it. Once retired Ronnie volunteered at Alfred I. du Pont Children’s Hospital, traveled with her husband to the South Pacific, Europe and much of the United States. She gardened and enjoyed Bridge with friends. Her family always came first in her life.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Hauser and her sons Bruce Shaver and John Shaver. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Mary Margaret Shaver, sons Carl J. Hauser, Jim (Becky) Hauser, daughter Carlie (Choya) Shane; grandchildren Mary Lenore Neutz, Bruce A. Oh how I wish I could have been with you this last year. How I remember the lovely times we had at our home in York with all the family here. Also the wonderful times at your home in Hockessin. I think of the dinners when we met in Lititz for Dinner & a visit. I loved you & Carl so very much. My first cousin! I wish I could give my greatest condolences to your and Carl’s families. At 96, I am now clearing out my home after 80 years., sold to a relative & moving into my apt. In this same house. My thoughts & prayers are with all of the families. Your Mom and I had wonderful phone calls, e-mails then calls at last. Great memories will always be with me.

Our sincere condolences to the Hauser family on Ronnie's passing. She was a true inspiration to all of her fellow educators, and who could forget the warmth and hospitality that she extended to all that visited her home. May God bless.
