Ralph Edward Gordy, Jr.

For one brief shining moment, it was Camelot.

Ralph Edward Gordy, Jr., age 76, on October 24, 2021, has moved on to play with Mikey, J.R. and Maizie at the rainbow bridge and to join his Mom, Dad and other relatives and friends.

Born in 1945 he was the son of the late Catherine Fernow Gordy and Ralph E Gordy, Sr. He is survived by his wife Jillanna, his son Todd (Christy), his grandchildren Bella and Jonathan, his brothers Peter (Jeannie), Nelson (Stacey), his sister Gina Sugzdenis (Ned), his beloved stepmother Elizabeth and his adopted by heart daughter Tricia Gaskill (Ricky).

He would want you to know that he was a proud graduate of the University of Delaware. A veteran of the Air Force during the Vietnam War. A 15-year career with computer companies Wang Laboratories and Perkin Elmer. He left industry to start his own mortgage company in Alexandria, Virginia in 1985.

In 1990, he agreed to return to Delaware to join his father in the Gordy companies. He often commented on how grateful he was to have had the opportunity to work with his father and learn from him; and to develop the deep father/son relationship they enjoyed. One of his greatest accomplishments, by his own words, was to have the ability to stand with his tenants as the Covid pandemic raged on.

Ralph loved tennis and his family. With his wife he enjoyed movies, theater, dinner parties, traveling and being a Rotary husband. They enjoyed a 41 year relationship subscribing to his mantra, The Best Is Yet To Come.
