Philip Claude Pusey

Philip Claude Pusey, age 77, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2026, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Claymont, DE, the son of the late Worthington Pusey and Henrietta Bolin. Philip was a graduate of Claymont High School. After high school, Philip served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971. He then continued his education, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Delaware in 1975. Upon graduation, he completed an apprenticeship program to become a Master Cabinet Maker.

Philip taught carpentry for the New Castle County Vocational Technical school district for many years and also worked as a salesman at 84 Lumber and Newark Hardware. Additionally, Philip worked for Greenplate Industries where he specialized in custom cabinetmaking and antique restoration. He was a member of the AARP, VFW and the American Legion.

Philip loved carpentry, cabinetmaking, days at the beach and in the water, and, above all, spending time with his family. He was happiest when he was building in his workshop, spending time with his children, playing with his grandchildren and making them laugh with his jokes and silly antics. He enjoyed the quiet moments rocking on the front porch with his loving wife.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Pusey; daughter, Kristina Marie Pusey; brother, Herbert Pusey; and sisters Joan Pusey-Cruse and Carolyn Quinn.

He is survived by his wife, BethAnn (Scharff) Pusey; sons Eric Pusey (Stacey) and Jason Pusey (Leah); daughters Theresa Miller (Robert) and Katrina Fontinha (Andrew); and seven grandchildren, Sabrina, Alex, Timothy, Nicholas, Liam, Logan and Layla.
