In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Children International online at www.children.org.

Pete would say jokingly, “When it’s my time to go, I hope I get hit by a meteor.” On the day of his death an asteroid was reported nearby; maybe he got his wish and hitched a ride to heaven.

Dear Vera, when I opened the "News Journal" last night I could not believe my eyes when I saw Pete's picture. I recognized it instantly and read the obituary. Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers for you and your family. Pete was such a kind and gentle soul. After all these years of teaching at Salesianum, I can still remember him clearly. And having known your mom and dad and the fact that Pete entered your family was a joy for me to experience. However, this does not alleviate the pain and loss. = Grief is not a place to stay but a passage to go through! And I believe it is replaced gradually with Thanksgiving- "gratitude for all those years of a life here with him" and a Trust, I call it Faith in what Jesus says: "He who believes in me even though he should die…will have eternal life.” Remember, in your Ukrainian tradition we sing on Easter: Христос воскрес , Khrystos voskres "“Christ is risen from the Dead, by death He has conquered death, and to those in the tombs He has granted Life” Now St. Francis de Sales says: “Let God gather from His garden what He has planted…for He takes nothing out of season.” For 69 years Pete spent in our garden, now he is in the Lord’s Garden. After his valiant battle with cancer, as the Lord said at the grave of His friend Lazarus…”Untie him and let him go free." I will celebrate Liturgy here at St. Edmond's in Rehoboth on Thursday for Pete and for you and your family. "In blessed repose grant eternal life to your servent Peter and may his memory be eternal!!! Vichnaya Palmya!!! Fr. William Gore, osfs

    Jeffrey Santoro writes,
Dear Vera, Mark, and Christina. I'm deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Pete. He was a loving father, devoted husband and cherished friend to so many in the ARTS community. His kindness and creativity touched countless lives, and his memory will live on in all who knew him. During the Delaware All-State Theatre days, Pete was always there to lend a helping hand and worked tirelessly on our challenging sets (and nothing was too challenging for Pete by the way). He brought smiles to us all with his good humor and quick wit. His eye for exceptional design was very much appreciated by me and everyone involved with DAST. I ran into Pete many times since at the Wilmington Drama League. His sets were Broadway caliber and complemented the performers perfectly. Pete had a heart that knew no boundaries. I know you all will miss him dearly. Keep all of those special times you had together in your hearts, minds, and souls. He loved his family and will be with you forever. With heartfelt sympathy, Jeff Santoro
