Pat was one of the nicest kids at Pilot School and at Sanford. He would always joke around and we played basketball together with Billy Hyland for many years. He got along with everyone and he made any atmosphere that was awkward some how bearable. The Z-Man was one of a kind, who I knew loved his mother and father very much. Pat was a light here in Delaware during any dark situation. I know deep down the gates above opened up for Patty Z based off of to many stories of how he helped so many different types of characters throughout his life. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Please let me know about the October 12th celebration. My condolences, Patty Z's friend "The Big Thunder." BT Lee

Our family loved Patrick. Patrick had a kind heart, a gentle disposition, and a rascally sense of humor. We have many happy memories of being with Patrick and his family through all his years. Many of the best times were spent at the beach where he always had a great time surrounded by his parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. The best was yet to come for Patrick after meeting DeAnna Marie. They loved each other and were planning their future together. His death leaves us broken-hearted for the years he had ahead of him and for the sorrow and pain of losing him felt by his family and all of us who loved him. He will be with us always.

Although it was a lot of years ago, we still remember Patrick as the sweetest little guy across the street on Monroe Place, who was so loved by his parents and all their friends and neighbors. We are so sorry for the loss of your precious son, Jan and Rick, and all your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pat was my first friend at Friends School. By 2nd grade he had me convinced he was a street fighter who owned a pair of brass knuckles, had gotten to see Arnold Schwarzenegger wrestle Mr. T at Universal Studios, where Arnold told him he was a cool kid; and there was a baby Schwarzenegger who could lift a lot of weights. Pat was the most gifted storyteller I have ever met and you wanted to believe his stories because they made the world much more wondrous. He had the wit to match and often we had to be separated during class for laughing uncontrollably. In high school he’d come up with catch phrases that were soon adopted by all the students. It’s no exaggeration to say that Pat influenced our style of language: I still tell stories the way he would have. My condolences to his family, who always welcomed me with open arms (even if Rick thought I was too old for footy pajamas).

As Patrick's younger cousin I always looked up to him, and anticipated the time we spent together with high excitement. Patrick was just an all around great person to be around no matter the situation. He was one of the funniest, wittiest people I have ever known and brightened every room. Pats voice seemed to make everything he said more interesting, funnier and more sincere, it is something I will never forget. You will always be in our hearts.

Patrick was truly unique in every aspect, and everyone he leaves behind will miss is genuine kindness, warmth, and humor. He had a contagious laugh and smile immediately apparent to everyone that was lucky enough to spend time with him. He'll be missed dearly, and I'm so glad I got to see Patrick and meet DeAnna last month.

So many of my best memories include Patrick. Every summer he is who I looked forward to seeing the most at the beach. We played for hours inventing games in the ocean and staying up laughing when we were supposed to be sleeping. I feel so lucky I got to spend time with Patrick and DeAnna this past year, you could tell they had something very special between them. I am truly heart broken for DeAnna and their sweet pup. Sending so much love to her, my Aunt Jan, Uncle Charlie and everyone who is missing Pac. Love, May may.

Oh Patrick, so many memories, so much to say. I remember you as a happy smiling child. Our family spent many summer vacations together at the beach, Patrick loved the beach! One particularly rainy week, (when they were both very young and bored), he and his cousin Meaghan almost "took down" the beach house, and even that was fun. Christmas always wearing the Santa hat and passing out presents, Patrick loved Christmas! This summer we all got together (a rare event), cousins he hadn't seen in years, some meeting the love of his life DeAnna for the first time. We will all cherish that memory, it was just too short. Patrick loved his family! My heart breaks for his devoted parents. Jan and Rick you loved him unconditionally, always there for him, and he knew it. Patrick always greeted me with a "Hey Jude", I can hear it now. He was someone you would want as a friend, always smiling, never complaining, non-judgemental, accepting, abounding with kindness, and with a wonderful sense of humor. I will never understand why a person with his character and spirit could be gone from this earth at such an early age. He deserved so much more. If words could sum up a too short life (which they can't) I would have to say, he lived, he laughed, he loved. We will all miss him more than words can express. Love you forever Pack! Your loving Aunt "Jude"

Pat, Patt Z, P Ziddy, Lovey, Pac, Simon Birch, Patrick- was one of my first and most favorite friends at Sanford School. It is not always easy to come into a high school brand new where you barely know anyone. Pat made it easy for me. He came right up and introduced himself, started drilling me with questions, and told me if I needed help or direction just ask. He immediately started poking fun at me (in a positive way)cracking jokes, and giving nicknames. Most of my fondest memories of my time at Sanford involve Pat. Walks to Chapel Valley, trips to Two Cousins and Capriottis, Valley Gardens, Meek's house, etc. Pat was always kind and a great supporter. Even after the high school years we remained in contact. We would call each other to vent or to share new funny exciting stories. Anytime I gambled Pat and I would connect and he would tell me where to place bets on the Roulette table. The last time I saw Pat was in 2014, he came to my barn to watch me ride and then we went for a glorious hike! I can still hear him saying, "Melly Mel", "And there it is", "You turd", "Lovey", "I got skills you won't believe" "Hey Buddy...kinda weird", and many more. In 2015, Pat told me he fell in love and it changed his life. He was so very excited and able to share all the wonderful love he had to offer. Pat loved his family, friends, animals, music, and stories. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be one of those friends and Pat will forever live in my heart. My condolences to his family and DeAnna.
