Patrick L. Ledgerwood

Patrick L. Ledgerwood, lovingly known as Dad and PopPop, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Born in August 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, Patrick excelled in sports during high school and remained a lifelong fan of the University of Michigan football team. He enjoyed a successful career as Eastern Regional Sales Manager for Emerson Electric and later became the owner of Ledgerwood-Herwig Associates.

Patrick was deeply involved in his community throughout his life. He served as a member of the Association of Home Builders, a board member at The Friends of Bellevue State Park, and President of the Buckingham Heights Civic Association.

Known for his warmth and effortless ability to make friends wherever he went, Patrick touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and genuine spirit. An avid gardener, he especially enjoyed sharing his homegrown tomatoes with family, friends, and neighbors.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Frances Ledgerwood; his sister, Rosemary Zwicker; his brothers, Hobart Ledgerwood and David Ledgerwood; and his daughter, Vicki Ledgerwood.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara; his daughters, Lynda Ahearn (Greg) and Kathy Hasted (Scott Murphy); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Patrick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM on May 27, 2026, at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Faithful Friends Animal Society or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM on May 27, 2026, at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private.
