Patrick Edward Melie

Patrick Edward Melie, age 59, of Wilmington, Delaware died at home on Saturday, November 7, 2021.

Patrick was a brother, stepfather, grandfather, and patron of the arts. His passions were live music, Impressionist painting, and loving his family. He was a collector of musical performances, logging in more than a thousand live performances. As each different venue brought him to new places, he collected experiences, people and recordings.

His kindness and generosity to his family and children, love of good cooking, and spicy wit made him an always welcome guest at tables far and wide. Being an excellent cook allowed more opportunity to stir the pot. As a diehard supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and LSU, despite the ups and downs of a particular season, his love of sports allowed for another opportunity to collect more hats. He will be missed dearly for his gentle kindness, humility and sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Catherine Melie, sister Carol Seabrook, and brother James Melie.

He is survived by siblings Michael Melie (Margaret), Deborah Griffin (Gregory), Margaret Truluck (Lloyd), Barbara Besmar (Sam), Mary Melie, and stepchildren: James Ryan Jr, Jason Ryan, Patricia Ryan, William Ryan and Leo Pierce. Also in his heart were numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren

In lieu of flowers or donations, he asks that you attend a concert to help keep the music playing.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be private.

To the Melie Family, My deepest heartfelt condolence for the passing of Pat. We met at about the age of 9 and we best friends until the age of 24. We remained friends and stayed in contact through the years. But he was off running with the Grateful Dead and I was in the Navy sub duty. My son is named after Pat (Daniel Patrick Ray Dolinger). He goes by Patrick. I hope to have the opportunity to met up with the family to remanence. I will miss Pat.
