Norma Lou Shepps

Norma Lou Shepps, 79, of Wilmington, Delaware, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord, on Wednesday morning, February 6, 2019.

She shared her faith with her family more with every visit. They found peace when they saw that earlier that morning, she had turned her daily devotional calendar and read Psalm 18:2.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust…

God’s strength is perfect and complete; and it’s available to you. Whenever you feel absolutely weak and defeated, draw on His strength. Run to him.”

She ran to be with Jesus on her own terms: in the home she lived in for more than 50 years.

Norma grew up in Springfield, PA. She studied business and education at Penn State, and became a certified teacher in Pennsylvania before moving to Baltimore, MD, where she became a full-time mother. She then moved to Wilmington in 1967.

It was in this Wilmington home that she raised her three sons to have beautiful families of their own, the accomplishment she considered to be the most important and the one that will continue to bring her joy forever. This great gift is one she taught us all to value dearly.

She also shared her home with her other loves: a cat named Pud and her dog Holly. We know that she is overjoyed to be with them again, along with her sister Lois and her parents, Jane and Fenton Piercy, all of whom predeceased her.

After her boys left to raise their families, she worked and later retired as an administrative assistant at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.

She loved all sports, especially tennis and basketball, and we are certain she will be watching Wimbledon and the 76ers alongside Moses Malone for eternity.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Tim and Stacy, Todd and Kristin, and Craig and Julie; her grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as “Nannie,” Jesse & Brett Cracco, Zach, Mackenzie, Savannah, Ashley, Rebecca, and Amanda; her great-grandson Triston; and her nieces Janet Quackenbush and Jill Call.

Her friends and family are welcomed to attend visitation on Friday, March 8th at 3pm with a service at 4pm at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3003 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE.

Interment will be private.
