Margaret H. (Peg) Rohs

Margaret H. (Peg) Rohs, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on August 4, 2019.

Peg graduated from Adelphi University in New York City in 1948. She taught at local schools, including the former Lore Elementary. She then became a stay-at-home mom, but remained active in the PTA. As her son, Timothy, became older, Peg volunteered as a teacher’s aide. She later worked in daycare and in retail.

Peg was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She also enjoyed attending plays and shows, as well as her son’s concerts with The First State Symphonic Band.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert, predeceased her in 2015. Peg was a triplet and was preceded in death by her brother Robert Hassold of Greenville, SC earlier this year. Another brother, Victor Hassold, Jr., died shortly before Peg was born.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Hassold and his wife, Nancy of Gwynedd, PA; sister-in-law, Anne Hassold of Greenville, SC; son, Timothy of Wilmington; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her dog, Max.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peg’s memory may be sent to the First State Symphonic Band, 1914 Thomas Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Please note “Rohs Memorial” in memo line.

    Stephen Robeson-Miller writes,
I have fond memories of Peg. She was my mother's (Nancy McDaniel Miller's) first cousin. Her mother was my Great Aunt Margaret (Mrs. Victor Hassold). Her son may be interested to know that, through Great Aunt Margaret's Swedish born mother Gerda Bollin Wilkinson (Mrs. Robert Wilkinson), he descends from the famous Swedish scientist Olof Rudbeck 1630-1702 (see Wikipedia article about him). He discovered the human lymphatic system, and there is a biography. (I being the genealogist in the family). God bless cousin Peg! Stephen Robeson Miller (son of Fred and Nancy)
