Margaret E. Ward

Margaret Ellen Ward (nee Ralston), 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Hockessin, DE on Wednesday, January 15th. Peg is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Breen (nee Kahuy) of Brookhaven, PA, her son Gregg Ward of Landenberg, PA and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Ward, her son Glenn Ward and her daughter Maureen Ward. Her happiest moments were spent with her children, grandchildren and her sister Evelyn’s eight children who were very close to her.

Peg was born in Chester, PA and was a graduate of Chester High School. She was a devout Roman Catholic and was a member of St Michael’s parish in Chester and later Notre Dame de Lourdes parish in Swarthmore, PA. Peg ran her own hair salon business on 9th St. in Chester. After retiring, Peg would keep busy by donating her time and talents at nursing homes. Prior to moving to Hockessin, she also volunteered at Notre Dame’s elementary school and enjoyed working with the teachers and young children. She also enjoyed going to Delaware Park race track with her family.

 

 

Funeral Services

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd at 11:00am at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church at 1000 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Visitation will precede the Mass at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will occur immediately after the Mass at St. Michaels Cemetery at 1811 Edgmont Ave, Chester, PA 19013. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/.
