Lynn Montgomery

Lynn Montgomery, 72, of Hockessin, Delaware passed away on January 19, 2026, surrounded by family and love.

Lynn was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, by Elizabeth and Carl Jeffers. She grew up alongside her sister Susan and brother Scott and from a young age had a love of the beach, sports and travel.

She attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Tennessee and later graduated from the University of Delaware. Soon after graduating she began a career in banking by joining Delaware Trust Company in 1977. This career would last more than 30 devoted years.

Sports were a big part of Lynn’s life, especially the men’s and women’s professional tennis tour and her beloved Philadelphia Eagles. She also greatly looked forward to her volunteer work at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.

Lynn is predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Jeffers. She is survived by her; sister Susan, brother Scott, her sister-in-law Donna, her cherished nieces, nephews and their spouses who were the absolute light of her life; Greg (Kristin), Mark (Hana), Andrew (Jaymie), Amanda (Ben), Tyler and Paige (Jarret) and ten great-nieces and great-nephews who all brought Aunt Lynnie laughter and joy.

She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, ethics, and love that will live on through the family she adored. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Lynn enjoyed researching our family genealogy.  The visits and memories shared with her cousins Kathy, Karen, Jane, John and Jimmy were always looked forward to.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all of Lynn’s friends who were always willing to help with driving her to appointments, errands and dinners at her favorite restaurants.  These friends were formed during her days as a personal banker and the friendships she made more recently at Coffee Run.

The family is also grateful for all the loving care she received from her Accent Hospice team; doctors, nurses (Jennifer and Stacy), her aide (Lydia) and the many on-call nurses who would come out at any hour. Aging in Place caregivers Dana and Colean, were so caring and Lynn’s private caregivers Leni, Nancy and Susan were invaluable to our family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynn’s memory may be made to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center honoring her strength, resilience, and the impact she made on those who loved her.

A service celebrating Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a service following at 11:30 a.m.

Lynn and I lost touch over the years, but we were a strong team and confidants at the Capitol Trail Branch of Delaware Trust. She was indeed a strong woman of outstanding character. Eternal peace and rest be hers. My condolences to all the family.

Lori Hill lit a candle and writes,
My sympathies to the families of Susan and Scott for the loss of their sister Lynn. I knew Lynn for over 50 years. Lynn was quiet and reserved but had the quickest wit and absolutely made you laugh when you were around her. I lived on the same floor, as Lynn, in our dorm at the U of D., was in her company at many family parties, and saw her at different times during her visits to the beach with her sister. She handled her last year of life with bravery and dignity. I admired her courage and will deeply miss her. Lori
