Louvenia Vogelsberg

Louvenia David Vogelsberg, age 77, of Centreville, DE, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 from a series of medical issues.

She was born in Morehead City, N.C., in 1945 to the late Rev. Gertrude Murphy David and Douglas David. She was the granddaughter of Mr. James Wesley Murphy and Mrs. Louvenia Murphy of Burgaw, N.C. and Mr. Daniel David and Mrs. Cynthia David of Benettsville, Marlboro County, S.C.

Louvenia retired from Verizon in 2001 after 32 years of service. She spent her retirement traveling the world, visiting more than 60 countries from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America, to Australia and New Zealand. She loved sharing her experiences with whomever she met.

She visited all but 2 states in America. She enjoyed meeting people, hoping to learn something new every day. Louvenia was a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Delaware as proof of her love of learning. She was a mentor to many, talking to teens about the importance of education and of not becoming teen parents.

Louvenia was a member of the DuPont Country Club and enjoyed playing golf, using the fitness center and dining. She was a good dancer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Francis Anthony “Tony” Vogelsberg, her son, Carey David, her grandson Christopher Croper, adopted granddaughter, Cristina Croper, her sister, Evelyn Eleby, and her brother, Wesley David Sr and his wife Debra.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Northwood Cemetery, 1501 Haines Street, Philadelphia, PA 19126.

    My heart was sadden when I heard that Louvenia had passed, I met Louvenia at Bell Telephone in 1969 and we became friends. She was a lovely person. I attended her wedding 24 years ago when she married Tony, she was so happy! My sincere condolences to her husband and family. She will be missed. R.I.P. my friend!

    So sorry to hear Lovenia passing my condolences to her family. I worked with her at Bell Telephone Co at 3810 Chestnut Street and we also worked at 1613 Arch Street on the Official Board as operators from 1968 until 1975. I remember when she got married she was so happy. May she rest in peace.
