Lisa J. Spear

Lisa Julian Spear, 46, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, at her home in Wilmington, Delaware. Blessed with a sharp mind, a rare gift for connecting with people, and a big heart, she will be remembered for her devotion to her husband, Mark, and their children, George, Elizabeth (Libby), and Gemma.

Lisa was born in Wilmington, Delaware, where she attended The Independence School and Archmere Academy, excelling both in the classroom and as a multi-sport athlete.  She went on to study finance at Boston College.

In 2002, Lisa joined Goldman Sachs in New York City, where she spent almost twenty years in the Investment Management and Commodities divisions. There, she met Mark.  In 2009, they married and built a family together.

Lisa climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, ran the New York City Marathon, loved to cook and make holiday-themed vegetable trays, and never once forgot your birthday.

At 40, Lisa was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and her family relocated from Hoboken to Wilmington to have the support of extended family. The years that followed brought immense challenges, which she met with humor and determination, never losing sight of what mattered most: her children.

Lisa maintained lasting bonds with friends from all periods of her life. The family thanks Lisa’s friends for the countless moments of joy and their steady support that carried her through the hardest days.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; her children, George, Libby, and Gemma; her parents, Mary and Francis Julian; and her sisters, Amelia Wyant (Jack) and Christine Moritz (Garrett); and a host of adoring nieces and nephews.
