Linda Woodward Dyson

Linda Woodward Dyson, 85, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on May 4, 2023. She was born on September 26, 1937, the daughter of the late Rebecca and Carl Woodward.

Linda was a concert pianist and a private music teacher. Her favorite color was purple. She loved to share her lifelong appreciation for music with people of all ages, especially children, as she tutored hundreds of musicians from her home over the years. Linda was also a talented chef and host, managing a catering business, the Court of Two Sisters,
with her sister Donna. Linda will be remembered warmly for her annual Christmas Eve party and for the frequent events that she would host for friends and family all year long. She loved being able to share her musical and culinary gifts with her friends and family at these parties, and when she wasn’t actively hosting she would spend months in advance meticulously planning the next event. Her hard work and commitment paid off, and the events that she hosted were perfect moments and cherished memories. Linda leaves behind a legacy of discipline and a commitment to doing things the right way consistently, deftly balanced with unparalleled dignity and grace. She was forever striking a balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.

In addition to her skills and talents, Linda loved children and animals. She was a beloved mother to dozens of furry companions and caretaker to countless plants. Linda was always working to make the world a more beautiful place, from the way that she put herself together every day to the way that she would plate a meal. She was always appreciative of the world around her. She loved spending time in her delightful Wilmington residence and frequently vacationing in Stone Harbor which held a special place in her heart. Most of all, Linda loved and appreciated the time she spent with her family, and she was always an active, present, and loving figure to the young people in her family. She will be dearly missed.

Linda is predeceased by her husband Ron Dyson. She is survived by her son Michael (Tracy) and step-daughter Carla (Jack), grandchildren Chad (Noelle), Wyatt (Cecelia), and Zakary. Linda’s first great grandchild, baby Shay, was born May 7th. She is also survived by five siblings; Carolyn Stewart, Faye Kroh (Loren), Donna Van Name (Ted), David Woodward (Renee), and Scott Woodward. In addition to being Ma Lindy, she was Aunt Lindy and Christmas Angel to numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Charles (Susan), Christopher (Deja), Caroline (Eric) and Craig (Michelle); Heather (Chris) and their son Nate, Melanie and her daughters Emily (Adam) and their baby girl Hayden, and Molly; Carly (Sean) and their children Madeline and Jack; Carl David (Taylor) and Caitlin (Mike) and her son Conner; Matthew (Pam) and their daughters Alaina and Scarlett, and Gavin.
