Kenneth Lynn Hampton, age 79 of Wilmington, Delaware. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022. His strong will to survive and the love of his family carried him through the last two years. Despite his own battle, he was always eager to help anyone.
Kenneth was born in 1945 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Chester, Pennsylvania where he attended Chester High School and graduated in 1963. After graduation, Kenneth joined the Army Reserves. After his military service, Kenneth attended RCA Technical Institute while working at Boeing. He later became a network engineer working at Bell Atlantic Business System Services. He transitioned to working with the Delaware State Superior Courts where he eventually retired in 2012. Kenneth was hardworking, dedicated, and would do anything for anyone.
In his personal life, Kenneth had an infectious laugh and smile. Kenneth enjoyed returning home to Bellefonte in the summer where he would spend time with his family including his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins at the Centre County Grange Fair and eventually sharing his passion with his grandchildren. Kenneth loved going down to the Jersey Shore and vacationing with his children. He loved to listen to music and dance. As an enthusiastic sports fan, his love for the Phillies and Eagles was profound. He attended his first Phillies World Series with his grandson in 2022. Kenneth loved playing sports, especially basketball, bowling, and golf. As an avid golfer, Kenneth was immensely proud of shooting a round of 74 at the age of 74 which remains a proud legacy among his family.
Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was very close to all his grandchildren. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 57 years Janice (née Miles), children Stacie (Tim) Umbrecht and Kenneth Hampton and his five grandchildren Josh, Ashleigh, Jacqueline, Abigayle, and Alyssa, and his only surviving Uncle Robert (Mary Jane) Rachau in Dunedin, Florida and his many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Stewart & Thelma (née Rachau) Hampton.
Kenneth’s family would like to thank the staff of Abramson Cancer Center of Penn Medicine and Chester County Hospital for their exceptional care and love for Kenneth.
