Katherine Monday-Schievenin

Katherine Monday-Schievenin, age 92, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 28, 2024.

She was born 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles and Kathryn Baker.

Katherine had many careers from homemaker to childcare provider where she would take the children to Disney to explore. She especially enjoyed working at Happy Harry’s after coming to Delaware. Katherine was also a dedicated volunteer at numerous church organizations throughout her life.

When Katherine wasn’t working, she spent her time being an adventurous traveler. She ended up living in eleven different places because of her love of exploration.

Katherine also loved the simplicity of life with family. When she wasn’t exploring, she enjoyed the warmth of summer with her children and grandchildren at Laurel Lake in Millville, New Jersey.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband Robert Schievenin, sister Alice Wood, son Michael Monday, and son-in-law Frederick Cheyney.

Katherine is survived by her daughters Kathi Vitelli and Valerie Cheyney; grandchildren Lauren Burnham (Robert), Caitlyn Young (John), Brittany Cheyney (Ryan), Mikayla Monday (Adam); and great-grandchildren Chloe, Reagan, A.J, Molly, H.J.

Services will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
