Joseph Oliver Bunce, III

Joseph Oliver Bunce III, age 84, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Joe was born in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania in 1941, the son of the late Joseph Oliver Bunce, Jr., and Dorothy Smith Bunce. He attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and graduated in the Class of 1963 with a B.A. in Spanish. During his 4 years there he was on the tennis team and held many records from 1960 to 1963. He was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.

Joe worked for DOE Technologies as a sales representative from 1971 to 2015. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Jane Marie Dobrzynski and they resided in Wilmington, Delaware. He was Vice President of the Wilmington Jaycees, President of the Holiday Hills and Sharpley Civic Association and he was a member of the Lycoming College Alumni Association Executive Board.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Marie Bunce, of Wilmington, Delaware, his brother-in-law, Robert Dobrzynski of Bend, Oregon, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, his niece, Abby Caram of Bellingham, Washington, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware and his nephew, Andrew Dobrzynski of Bend, Oregon, also formerly of Wilmington, Delaware.
