Joseph Christopher Eckrich

Joseph Christopher Eckrich, passed away of natural causes at home on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the age of 61. He was the son of Joseph F. Eckrich and Ann Sweeney Eckrich. Joe was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1978. He received a BS in Management Information Systems from Widener University and also received credits toward his MBA from Drexel.

Joe’s knowledge, skills, and adaptability enabled him to undertake careers in finance, education, and information technology. Joe strived to challenge and improve himself. He was a voracious reader, spent hours exploring museums, and enjoyed the opportunity to debate a variety of topics. He enjoyed the outdoors including hiking, biking, and lazy days at the beach.

Joe is survived by his son, Seth, who was central to his life. He was proud of Seth’s accomplishments and the man that he had become. He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Christine), Gregory (Danielle), and Daniel (Kelly), and his sisters, Jo-Ann Kerr (Robert) and Jean Eckrich (Heather Barber), and his ex-wife, Lorraine Harris Eckrich. Joe also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. Joe also maintained a strong connection with Seth’s brother, Micah Kidd. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ann Eckrich, his brother, Gerald, his nieces, Alexandra Kerr and Jessica Eckrich and his sister-in-law, Kathleen Nickoloff Eckrich.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.

Funeral Services

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1012 French Street, Wilmington, DE where visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
