Harry Crawford Carter, Sr.

Harry Crawford Carter, Sr., age 84, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and formerly of Aston, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Harry was born in 1939 in Aston, Pennsylvania, son of the late Amos Murray Carter and Ruth Hannah Steward. He graduated from Eddystone High School in 1959.

He began working as a milkman for Darlington Brothers Dairy located in Chester Heights, PA., and then worked for Jimmy Johns in West Chester, PA. He was a machine operator for 30 years at Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark, in Chester, PA. He was a lifelong member of Lenni Heights Fire Company #54, in Lenni, PA..

He enjoyed taking long car rides on country roads and will be remembered for his kindness and huge loving heart.

In addition to his parents, Harry is also pre-deceased by his brothers; Amos Carter, George Carter and Presley Carter, his sister, Shirley Smith. He is survived by his beloved companion, JoAnn McClellan of Coatesville, PA., his daughter, Tammy Strater (Felix), of Chadds Ford, PA, his sons: Harry (Chip) Carter, Jr.(Vicki), of Coatesville, PA., and Shawn McClellan (Sandy) of Malvern, PA., his brother, Walt Carter of Riverview, MI., his grandchildren; Michael Hunter, Felix Strater IV, Jessika Kynett, Richard Knepp, Sharon Knepp, Owen Knepp, Rylan McClellan, Brody McClellan and Chase McClellan, and many nieces and nephews.
