Grace (Caputo) Camoirano

Grace (Caputo) Camoirano passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 28, 2022 just five days after her 96th birthday.

Grace was born in July 1926 in Toughkennamen, PA to Louis and Grace Caputo. She was one of twelve siblings. Growing up with so many siblings, Grace was a natural caretaker. She was extremely loyal to her family and loved all her brothers and sisters immensely.

Grace graduated from Kennett School in Kennett Square before pursuing her career with New Castle County in the Planning Department where she retired in 1976.

She and her late husband, Charles Camoirano, were married in 1946. They had two sons, Joseph and Allan Camoirano and lived their entire lives on Valley Road in Hockessin, DE.

Grace and Charlie enjoyed traveling especially to Europe and spending time at their vacation home in Fenwick Island. Together they enjoyed dancing as members of the Cotillion of Delaware.

They had many friends and family who would pop in at any time to visit them. Grace loved having company and always made sure that you didn’t go hungry when you left her house. She was a wonderful cook and her grandchildren will always remember the delicious holiday dinners she prepared. More importantly than her cooking skills, she will be remembered by family and friends as welcoming, generous, happy and a very special lady. She truly made everyone in her presence feel special and loved. Grace lived a very full life and was very blessed by all the friends and family she had.

She is survived by her two sons, Joe and Allan Camoirano; daughter-in-laws Linda (Bartkowski) Camoirano and Michele (Pepe) Camoirano; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held in September.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hockessin Fire Department.

I always enjoyed visiting her with my mother for tea and cookies when Gracie would bring out enough food for a dozen people. I am sure Gracie and Palma are reunited in heaven. Please accept our sincere condolences for you and your family. With love, Mary Ann and Gary.
