George J. Jarome

Mr. George Jarome of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 9, 2018 after 82 years.

Born in Little Ferry, NJ, he was the only son of the late Antoinette and Joseph Jarome. He was a student at Lodi High School and went on to attend the University of Delaware on a football scholarship graduating in 1958 with a BA in history.

After school, George settled in Wilmington and had a 37 year career in sales while raising his family. One of his greatest joys was coaching football, which he did for over 15 years at Immaculate Heart of Mary and Holy Rosary parishes.

George was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening, Clint Eastwood movies, Frank Sinatra, and tomato sauce.

His memory will be carried on by Robert Jarome and wife Sandy, Stephen Jarome and wife Susan, Lisa Rosenberg and husband Alan, Tom Jarome and wife Lauren, and grandchildren Zachary, Emily and Hannah.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 17 at 11 am at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE, where visitation will be from 6-8 pm Sunday evening and 10-11 am on Monday morning. Interment will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, 10 Old Church Road, Wilmington, DE.
