It will be hard going forward, knowing that Gary is no longer here, thinking, writing, and playing music. Some of my fondest memories -- no, actually, MOST of my fondest memories are of the times I spent playing music with Gary and Wayne, recording, touring, just hanging out. Hermines', the Blue Boar, the Buggy, the Mendenhall, Hoxter's....the list is endless, and so are my memories of the great nights of listening to Gary and Wayne and company. Rest easy, my dear friend...your music lives on with us....

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Gary’s wife, children and brother Wayne. Our friendship stemmed from the music and bands during our teen years. I looked forward to running into him at the Fairfax shopping center and catching up whenever I was back in Delaware. Such a sweet person with a wonderful musical talent.

I know Gary to be a wonderful person and a very talented musician and song writer. As young adults we would go listen to the Watson Brothers play their music in Arden. Those were special times that I will never forget. Then he met Marie, the love of his life, and my very dear friend. Together they were one of the happiest couples I know. Gary will always be here is spirit and I know he is in a beautiful place. All my love to Marie.

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of years as the drummer for The Watson Brothers Band in the mid-1970s. We made some great music and posed a threat to Steely Dan for sheer musicality. Both Gary and Wayne created musical journeys with their song writing, but it was Gary's vocals that did it for me. To say the Gary was a really nice guy is an understatement because he will always be the really nice guy that hired me as the drummer in a great ensemble. Rock on Gary.

Gary, I’m going to miss your music, your energy, & the memories with Wayne, & you on Rudy Dr In Claymont DE. Going to see the Watson Brothers, The Wilmington Blue Rocks. I’ve been playing your CD & The Wilmington Blue Rocks 45 a lot lately. Growing up with your brother Wayne & playing in the band with Dave Daller, Jimmy Crawford, Wayne & myself was so much fun. I would have never known about your passing if my sister hadn’t told me. I’ve been waiting for the tribute concert but Covid stopped that or I never got word of it. I know I’m late on writing this but I’ve been thinking about you. Remember when Wayne put the car in forward while backing out of the garage. It’s those little things that seem big at the time, but thinking of them later are really funny. You are missed.
