Francis Roy Dean, Sr.

Francis Roy Dean, Sr., 80, of Wilmington, Delaware, died on September 14, 2018 at home.

Roy was a 1955 graduate of Somerville High School, Somerville, Massachusetts. Following graduation, Roy served in the US Navy aboard the USS Constitution and the USS Kearsarge. Roy retired from Wilmington Trust Company as Assistant Vice President in Securities Clearance in 2003. After retirement, Roy continued to work for Casson and Company. Roy was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church, serving as Trustee and Lead Usher for many years.

Roy was predeceased by his wife, Lillian, after 59 years of marriage. Roy is also predeceased by his parents, Charles and Betty, his brother Charley and sister Betty. Roy is survived by his sisters, Doris, Barbara, Ruth, Pauline and Marion and his children, F. Roy Dean, Jr., Rita Dean Montero, Bruce Dean, (Sharon), Philip Dean, and Edward Dean (Patty), nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, surrogate children and grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 21, at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, September 21, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 405 Marsh Lane, Suite 4, Wilmington, DE 19804.
