Frances A. Guynes

Frances A. Guynes, age 70, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

She was a graduate of Brandywine High School and continued her education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Frances loved her family dearly and enjoyed vacations to the Caribbean, Disney and many other places with her family. During her retirement, she enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the Holly Lake Campground beach. When she had time, Frances loved to take road trips to the Outer Banks and NASCAR races. Of course, she was an avid Eagles fan.

Frances was involved in keeping in touch with Brandywine High School friends through reunions or luncheons. She always looked forward to the cousins’ luncheon each month.

She is survived by her fiancé and best friend of 19 years, Tom Weiss, daughter Mary, son-in-law Brian and grandsons Matthew and Tyler. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Sabina Walls.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for all their help and for their love and care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington where friends may call beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Our high school class was so huge that I never knew Franni in high school. I met her at the mini-reunions that she and Michael Jordan organized a couple of times a year. Frani had a lovely smile and was so friendly, gracious, and welcoming that I grew to love her. I will really miss her

    Meg Trump Ellison writes,
Frani and I were best friends in elementary school and spent weekends either at my house or hers. We lost touch in jr high and got back together in high school. We lost touch again after graduation and thank her for making me attend the Brandywine reunions. Each time we got back together was like time stood still as her personality was so warm and accepting. My memories include our trip to Canada with my parents and smoking our 1st Pall Mall unfiltered and almost choking to death. Rest in peace my old friend.

Frani was a classic example of the adage "to have a friend, you must be a friend." Frani embraced everyone with sincere love, and she was greatly loved back. The greater the love, the greater the grief. How we will miss her!
