Evelyn S. Koehler

Evelyn Schaffer Koehler, age 101, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026.

She was born in May of 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. Earl E. Schaffer in Bethlehem, PA. She attended and graduated from Bethlehem Public Schools in 1942. Following graduation, she attended Moravian College for Women. Evelyn graduated in 1944 through accelerated coursework in business administration. She immediately went to work for the Lehigh and New England Railroad and continued to do so over the next 5 years. In 1946, Evelyn married her high school sweetheart, Albert Koehler. They shared 80 beautiful years of marriage.

During her lifetime, Evelyn was on the Junior Board of St. Francis where she volunteered for over 20 years. She and Albert were former members of the Wilmington Country Club.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, the honorable Earl E. Schaffer, former mayor of Bethlehem, her mother Beatrice, and her brother Richard. She is survived by her loving husband, Albert Koehler of Wilmington, DE, and her sister, Carolyn Wolf of Phillipsburg, NJ. She is additionally survived by her children, Scott and Nancy Koehler of Houston, TX, Jeffrey and Diane Koehler of Wilmington, DE, and David and Marie Koehler of Port St. Lucie, FL as well as 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She will be dearly missed by all those who love and remember her.
