Elizabeth “Liz” W. Ramsay

Elizabeth W. Ramsay, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 surrounded by family. Liz was born and raised in Coatesville, PA and attended Radford College in VA.

Liz was a homemaker and raised her children in Bensalem, PA before relocating to Brandywine Hundred, Wilmington, Delaware. She worked for many years in the insurance field and was an active member of the Claymont Lions Club. Her volunteering efforts included helping young children get eye exams through the Lions Club, assisting the public with the voting process, being a scout leader, and many other fundraising efforts on behalf of the community.

Liz loved to garden and prided herself on the many flowers and roses surrounding her property.

Her happiest times were spent with family on many trips to Avalon, New Jersey, Scotland, England and Holland; with the highlight being her 50th anniversary trip to the 2005 British Open in St. Andrews. She relished time watching her grandchildren at their sporting events and Holiday concerts.

She was the loving wife of Thomas (“Tom”) H. Ramsay and mother to James (deceased), Susan Judge (Scott), Karen Krauland (John), and Stephen (Kathy). Affectionately known as Granny, Liz had four grandchildren, Ashley Judge, Bobby Judge (Becky), Lee Sifford and Eric Sifford (deceased) and one great-grandson, Ryder Judge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the Claymont Lions Club, 3301 Green Street, Claymont, DE 19703.

Condolences

    Frank Livoy writes,
Tom, Susan, Karen and Steve, What a wonderful lady was Liz! It was a joy to work with her for a few years in Concord's English department and to bask in her gentle glow. She made every task easier. We are all diminished by her loss but have been richly rewarded by her time with us. We wish you all peace and comfort. Frank and Carolyn Livoy
