Elizabeth (Lisa) Jamison Hansen

Elizabeth (Lisa) Jamison Hansen, age 71, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away from pneumonia and emphysema on February 24, 2021.

Lisa was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1949 to Francis Joseph and Elizabeth Lippincott Jamison.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband George Robert Hansen, Jr. and three brothers, Francis Joseph Jamison Jr., Peter Acton Jamison, and Charles Scott Jamison. Lisa is survived by her sister-in-law, Leigh C. Jamison of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, her brother-in-law, Kenneth Hansen (Barbara) of Gulf Port, Florida, her nephews, P. Acton Jamison of Seaford, Delaware, and David Hansen of El Paso, Texas, as well as many loving cousins.

Lisa was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, Wilmington, Delaware and Bennett College, Millbrook, New York. She was a member of the University and Whist Club and the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

Lisa fully supported her husband’s twenty year naval career which enabled her to live in many beautiful locations across the United States including Oahu, Hawaii, San Diego, California, Pensacola, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Lisa’s lifelong love for the beach and sunny weather, wherever that may have been at the time, always brought her great happiness.

Upon her husband’s retirement from the Navy, Lisa returned to Delaware. In addition to being a loving and caring homemaker, Lisa taught at the Madame Layton School for many years as a beloved pre-school teacher. Throughout her lifetime, Lisa enjoyed needlework and created many treasured pieces. Lisa was recognized by the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society for her needlework.

Lisa was completely devoted to her family. Her devotion shone brightly in many roles over the years; a companion to her parents, a nurse to her husband through his bouts of cancer, an advisor and confidant to her three younger brothers and various relatives, a second mother for her nephew, Acton, and a grandmother for her cousins, Katie and Ashley Ballinger. Lisa will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Due to Covid, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Greenville, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Ursuline Academy, 1106 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilmington Delaware, 19806 or the Greater Chesapeake Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 825 Hammonds Ferry Rd, Suite H, Linthicum, Maryland 21090.

Miiss Lisa was one the sweetest ladies I have never met. I only have known her a short time. She always had a kind word to say. God has taken an Angel. I will miss her and my deepest sympathy to her family.

Oh dear, dear Lisa! I am so stunned. She called me three weeks ago and we talked and talked and I told her I would visit when I got back to Rehoboth. We met 41 years ago as neighbors on Tidewaters. We had so much fun with her mother, drinking wine and smoking and chatting endlessly. She loved my children as if they were her nieces and nephews. I will miss her as I have missed her mom and I am so happy she called me recently. Godspeed.🌹

Lisa and her Mom bring back so many happy memories, from the back pew at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine to hearty laughs ringing out in between stories about their days at Ursulines among others. Our mothers were best friends starting in high school... Being reunited with her family definitely ensures great times up above...and lots of laughter. Godspeed Lisa....

My wife, Mary Melissa, and I would like to express our condolences to the family of Lisa Jamison Hansen. We were her neighbors in Centerville, Delaware, living right next door. We were good friends of her parents, her, and her brothers. And we have many wonderful memories through the years - playing outside, playing card games, swimming, sledding in the snow, and later at numerous parties. She was delightful company and a faithful friend. God bless all of you; our prayers are that God will comfort you during this time of loss. Sincerely, Bruce and Mary Melissa Vernon

I was fortunate enough to be married to her "Uncle Dick". Lisa was a favorite of his and she was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Our husbands passed away during the same week so we had a lot in common. This past year, we had some wonderful conversations that were lengthy and fun talking about old times. She never complained and always had that beautiful smile. I will miss her.
