I will mlss sitting on his steps with him and my dogs. He spent many hours sitting ouside watching cars go by and waving to everyone. We enjoying talking about his dogs and the way things used to be. He liked to talk about the old timers at the fire house. He was a good neighbor and a good friend. I will miss him. Dotty Marx

    Clyde P. McCord writes,
So sorry to hear about the death of Dudley. I thought a lot of Dudley, and would have been there had I known. I learned of his death after trying unsuccessfully to call him and finding out his phone had been disconnected. I since have tried to reach his caregiver with no success. None of his family was notified, not even his sister. It doesn’t seem right that we were not contacted, and it is quite a shock to us all.

Mr. Richards was a kind and welcoming neighbor. I enjoyed walking my dog past his house and stopping to chat with him while he sat in his lawn chair on the front porch. Being relatively new to the area, he welcomed me and my family. My thoughts are with those who loved him.

Our family lived next door on Euclid Avenue in the 1960s. I remember him well growing up. Me Richards and his wife were nice and pleasant neighbors. Am glad to hear he lived a very long life. We had 2 Golden Retriever puppies and my mom and dad built a very elaborate cedar construction doghouse with even small windows. Mr and Mrs Richards really enjoyed watching the pups grow up. Was a very nice era and nice neighbor.

    Dr. Susan Gell writes,
Like many of Dudley's friends, my family lived next door to the Richards in the late 60's and 70's. He and Gertrude were wonderful to us. For some reason, I woke up thinking of this couple after many years of not really knowing what happened to them and having lost track of them. To say that they made a positive impact on my early years is an understatement and I will never forget them. I thank the kindness of those who cared for him in his last years and hope the generosity and kindness that he showed everyone during his prime was reciprocated in later years. He was loved. God speed~Dr. Susan Gell, DNP, PMHNP Wilmington, NC
