Dr. Michael H. Borek, age 75, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Michael was born in 1948 in Woodbury, New Jersey, son of the late Michael H. Borek and Kathleen F. (Hosey) Borek. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1976 and completed his post graduate training at JFK Hospital in Stratford, N.J.
He started his medical career in Delaware with Total Care Physicians in 1977. After 27 years, he stopped clinical practice to become the Chief Medical Officer for the Delaware Department of Labor Disability Determination Service, retiring in 2023.
Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan J. (McBride) Borek, his sons; Michael John Borek (Amy Michelle) and their sons, Parker John and Ethan Michael, and James Michael Borek (Sara Jane), his brothers; Harold D. Borek (Christine), Steven Borek (Michelle), Jeffrey Borek and his sisters; Kathleen Coffey, Cynthia Stevens (Joseph) and Suzanne Childers, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 119803. A visitation will be held prior from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
