Devyani Shah

Devyani “Devy” A. Shah, 81, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother of Hockessin, DE, passed away from complications of a respiratory illness on May 23, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Gujarat, India and attended university in Mumbai before emigrating to Philadelphia with her newlywed husband, Ashvin Shah, in 1968.  It was in the New Jersey suburbs that she became a successful small business owner and raised her family.  After living and working in New Jersey for 40 years, she and Ashvin made the transition to Delaware in 2014.

Devy was a devoted mother to Suken and Shimul, her pride and joy. She was a caring mother-in-law to Sheela and Aparna and delighted in the activities of her four grandchildren: Rajiv, Maya, Nikhil, and Rhea. In retirement, she took up gardening, yoga, bridge, enjoyed the friendships she formed in the Delaware community, and cherished time with her children, grandchildren and sisters.

Services for Devyani Shah will be held on Thursday May 30, 2024 from 11:30am-1:30pm at:
