Dennis John Cannon

Dennis John Cannon, 76, of Hockessin, Delaware, went to be with the Lord on June 27th surrounded by his family.

He was born in Ridley Park, PA, the child of Dorothy and John Cannon. He graduated from William Penn in 1967 and went on to attend the University of Delaware where he earned a degree in marketing.

Dennis spent his career working as a senior account salesman at Weyerhauser, then International Paper, before retiring in 2011. Outside of work, he was deeply passionate about model railroading, a deacon for Brandywine Valley Church, and VP, Board Member, and the East Coast President of the AC Gilbert Heritage Society. He will be remembered above all for his unbreakable faith, remarkable positivity, sense of humor, and generosity.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and their 54 years of marriage, as well as their children: Len, Doug, and Melinda.

Funeral Services

Celebration of Life services will be on July 13, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM followed by services starting at 11:00 AM at Brandywine Valley Church, located at 7 Mt Lebanon Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Habitat for Humanity and Faithful Friends Animal Society in Dennis’ memory.
