Condolences

Maggie Brooks lit a candle and writes,
I just read your father’s/grandfather’s obituary and although I never met him I would like to THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE to our country during WWII. He was one of the Greatest Generation. On behalf of my late husband and myself, we send our condolences to your family. My husband, William “Bill” Brooks, Sr, who founded Brooks Armored Car located on Gov Printz Blvd, passed June 2022 at age 98 and he too served in WWII as a Paratrooper. His obituary is on Mealey’s website. Although it is so very sad to be separated from our loved ones, to realize they lived well into their ninety’s, so close to 100, speaks volumes on so many levels. I share with you words given to me when my Bill passed - “Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.” GOD BLESS. Sincerely, Maggie Brooks.

    David M. Low writes,
As you can see, our names are quite similar. That is how I met David. We both enjoyed bidding on items at Briggs auction. There were a few times that the auction house staff would mix us up when making contact. Due to that, I was very fortunate to have met this wonderful man. We eventually met at the auction house. (I have a picture of us together, but don't think I can add it to this message). As many of "The greatest generation" are prone to do, he never mentioned his service in WWII. I very much would like to have thanked him for his service in person. Unfortunately, I must offer my sincerest thanks in this manner. So, Thank You for your service to our country,David!!
