It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, David Kyle Brown, at the age of 35. Known to many as Kyle, he later chose to go by Dave upon entering Delcastle High School, where he graduated in May 2007. Kyle thrived in building friendships and focused on electrical education, eventually working as a Fire & Safety Protection Specialist for Anaconda Protective Concept/Marmic Fire & Safety company.
Kyle’s love for wildlife began from the time he could crawl. He had a special fondness for critters, especially the scarier and more dangerous ones, collecting snakes, lizards, snapping turtles, and even alligators. The stories, pictures, and videos of Kyle’s adventures with these creatures will keep us smiling forever.
He cherished family vacations, particularly trips with his mom and sister to St. Croix, the Caribbean, Florida, the Outer Banks, and anywhere with a view. Kyle looked forward to the yearly Shumate Family Reunions in Virginia, spending time with his sister Taylor, Mom, Mommom, and Pop, and seeing his great-grandmother Shumate, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kyle was also an avid gun enthusiast, collecting and building his own and thoroughly enjoying any time he could spend shooting down range.
Kyle loved the Delaware shore, enjoying time with family, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and cherished boating and fishing trips with his family. He spent countless hours with his dad, caring for animals and working on projects together, often with differing opinions on how things should be done. They particularly enjoyed digging ponds and building shelters, though Dad should have listened to Kyle as the door won’t close and the pond leaks.
Kyle had a passion for collecting and restoring antique fire alarm boxes and recently began creating beautiful wood and iron furniture and sculptures. His craftsmanship, learned from his grandfather, was marked by incredible attention to detail, and he enjoyed sharing his skills with his cousin Alex’s young son Ferris.
He had a fascination with the night sky, capturing stunning images of the Aurora borealis, solar eclipses, and other cosmic events. He loved capturing everything on his drone, a favorite gift from his dad. Kyle loved debating and defending his conspiracy theories, especially with his best-friend Buddy McKinney, with whom he shared countless adventures.
Kyle had a huge heart, caring deeply for everyone around him. His fondness for his coworkers and the customers he served built lasting friendships. Above all, Kyle loved spending time with his family, leaving us with countless cherished memories.
Kyle will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in our hearts forever.
David is survived by his loving parents Dawn Brown (Brian Murphy), Dave Brown and stepmom Debbie Beideman, sister Taylor Brown, grandparents Jim and Carol Shumate, uncles Jim Shumate, Chuck Brown, Sandy Roberts, and Diane Carney, many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and Buddy McKinney, as well as his loving extended family who are feeling the deep loss of Kyle.
David Kyle Brown is preceded by his paternal grandparents RuthAnn and Charles Brown of Claymont, Mary Campbell of Marshallton, all of Delaware, and Mary Shumate of Bluefield, VA.
