David B. Bartholow

David B. Bartholow, 70, of Wilmington, DE passed away on November 29, 2017. David was born in 1947 in Chicago, IL, son of Phyllis L. (DiBiase) Bartholow and the late Jess Bartholow of Blairsville, PA.

David grew up in West Virginia and Kentucky and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He spent his career as a project controls manager and cost engineer in oil and chemical industrial construction. David’s work took him throughout the United States as well as Europe and Asia. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, reading, cooking and espresso. David’s appreciation of art and architecture was part of many family vacations. In retirement, he volunteered at the Brandywine River Museum in the Andrew Wyeth gallery.

David was the beloved husband of 47 years to Bridget (Breen) Bartholow, devoted father to daughters, Anna & husband Edward Grant, Jr. and Christy & husband Brian Hopenwasser, and proud grandfather to Owen Kanienberg and Ty & Sydney Hopenwasser. David is survived by his mother, Phyllis L. (DiBiase) Bartholow, his brother, Kevin Bartholow & wife Phyllis and sister-in-law, Bonnie Bartholow. David was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bartholow and his father, Jess Bartholow.

Funeral Services

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8 at 11 am at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Friends may call Friday morning beginning at 10 am.
