Daniel J. Nichols, Jr.

Daniel J Nichols Jr, devoted family man and equally enthusiastic steam locomotion volunteer caught his last train on July 14. 2020.  He leaves his wife of 63 years, Barbara, as well as his three sons and their spouses: Daniel J III and wife Kathy, Andrew M. and wife Denise, Joseph W. and wife Pamela.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren:  Heather, Kimberly, Daniel, David, Michael, Rebecca, Stephen, Riley, Connor and Grace as well as 4 1/2 great grandchildren.   Dan was retired from AT&T and the United States Army.  Donations to Wilmington and Western Rail Road would please us all.

    Seth Jackson lit a candle and writes,
    Recently had a friend call and tell me of Dan's passing. We volunteered together for several years at the Wilmington & Western and were in brakeman class together around 2001-2002. Always appreciated his friendship and great sense of humor. Many times I would be at the railroad taking photos even if I were not on crew. As I'd take pictures, if I happened to get Dan in a shot, he'd almost always say, "I'll take an 8x10 glossy!" My sincerest condolences to the Nichols family. God bless. Seth Jackson
