Cynthia “Cindy” Cox

Cynthia “Cindy” Cox, 74, of Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2025.

Born in Kingston, New York, Cindy was the cherished daughter of the late Dorothy and Bill Cox. She was a devoted sister to the late Michael Cox and is survived by her loving siblings Susan Cox, Tim Cox, and Tom Cox.

Cindy lived her life with a rare blend of strength and compassion. She was deeply thoughtful and considerate, quietly offering her time, resources, and care to those who needed it most, never seeking recognition. A hard worker with a tough spirit, she also carried a dreamer’s heart — always imagining journeys to far-off places and adventures beyond the horizon. Her love for family was unwavering, and she gave of herself freely and generously. Professionally, her impact as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Translational Research made so many improvements to basic sciences and parenting for the most fragile population. There were so many “Cindyisms”, that impacted endless recipients and made the world a better place.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Cox; her nephew Ryan Cox and his wife Rachel, and their children Bradyn, Kaliegh, Cian, and Brinley; her niece Ashley Wiechecki and her husband Larry, and their sons Xavier and Will; her sister-in-law Rosanne Carluccio and niece Devon Cox; her niece Erin Bednarzyk and her husband Chris, and their daughter Maya; her niece Megan Williams and her husband Ken Reily, and their children Kyla, Khloe, and KJ; and her nephew Nathan Williams and his wife Emily, and their daughters Lily, Ella, and Lia.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A funeral service will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be private at All Saints Cemetery.

Cindy’s quiet generosity, strong spirit, and boundless heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Cindy’s memory.

So very sorry to all who knew and loved Cindy, and who will always love her. I was a co-worker of Cindy's at Temple University. I didn't have any face-time with her, ever. Her photo on this website is my first time seeing Cindy. What a lovely, beautiful woman she was. Cindy and I communicated through email. She was always prompt in responding to my questions which showed to me her ilk, upbringing and personal aura. I am sure she was a caring, devoted, knowledgeable and kind person who will be greatly missed. My prayers are with all of you. May Cindy now be at peace with the Lord. Sincerely, Lor Hatch
