Carol Shrenk

Carol A. Shrenk, age 76 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the Heartland Hospice House. She spent her last days surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Carol was the son of the late Everett and Maude Davis. She was a graduate of Conrad High School and Goldey-Beacom College where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. In addition to her professional life, Carol was active in the life of her church at St. James of Newport. She was an avid clarinet player and was a proud member of the Conrad Alumni Marching Band. Carol was also active in the Academy of Life Long Learning at the University of Delaware.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald M. Shrenk, her son, Dennis M. Shrenk (married to Tiffany Shrenk), and her two young grand-daughters, Colette and Violet.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. James Episcopal Church Newport, 2 S. Augustine St., Wilmington, DE 19804. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, https://heartlandhospicefund.org/, or The Parkinson’s Foundation, https://www.parkinson.org/

I am so sorry that I (and some others) were unable to attend Carol’s memorial service. We had no transportation from Forwood. You and your family and Carol and Don were in our prayers all day. Gracious sakes, in my quest to look up a friend of mine from the good O'le YMCA days, I came across this link and sad item, and it was due to this familiar name of Carol Shrenk as the name of Don's wife as I recall years back. Sure enough the obituary identifies her so. My sympathy and prayers go out to Don and his family. Sorry I did not see this back in 12/2018. I would have certainly attended the funeral. Well anyway, Don if you get to see this which my wish is, please contact me as it has been so long since I have seen you, and I actually from time to time been searching for you.
