Carol Sue Scarfi

Carol Sue Scarfi, daughter of the late Nancy Smallridge and William Blair, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Carol graduated from Claymont High School where she met her lifelong friends the Cha-Chas.  She also attended the University of Delaware where she developed her love of theater.  She was an avid reader, loved cruises and going to the theater with her friends, and visiting with family in Ohio.  Especially precious was the time she spent with her grandchildren, often taking them shopping and to shows.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Melissa Graham and Delaware Hospice, especially Jenn Watson, for their care and support of Carol.

Carol is survived by her daughter Suzanne (John) Keller of Wilmington, DE, and son Brian (Holly) Powers of Newark, DE; four grandchildren, Caroline, Alison, Owen, and Elise; and her sister Ronda Archangelo.  Carol was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore Scarfi and brother Ronald Bryan.

Funeral Services

A Celebration of Life will be offered from 6-8pm at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.  Burial services at Delaware Veterans Cemetery Sussex County will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Carol‘s name be made to Delaware Hospice.
