Bunny V. LaMotte

Bunny V. LaMotte, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born in 1944, Bunny lived a life defined by love, laughter, and vibrant energy. She treasured her role as a dedicated stay-at-home mother during her children’s early years. Her three children were her greatest priority, and she instilled in them strength and encouragement through her unwavering love.

Bunny was truly one of a kind. She possessed an outgoing personality, full of spunk and a wonderfully wild spirit, making people smile wherever she went. She loved being up for an adventure and bringing energy and warmth into every room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her eclectic taste in music ranged from rock and roll to hip hop and reggae.

She loved spending time by the ocean, especially swimming and staying active through water aerobics. Bunny shared a special bond with her group of friends, affectionately known as “The Mermaids.” A highlight of her year was her annual trip each Spring to Delray Beach, her “happy place,” where she spent several weeks at the Berkshire by the Sea with her “second family,” creating cherished memories. She also found great joy in gardening, tending to her plants with the same love and care she gave her family.

Known for her vibrant spirit and kind heart, Bunny touched many lives. Her love for her family was constant and unwavering, and her legacy will live on through the many people who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia (LaMotte) Streeton and Byron H. LaMotte.

She is survived by her brother, Brud LaMotte; her children, Hunter Hale (Angela), Ellie Quinn (Tom), and Trevor LaMotte (Juli); and her beloved grandchildren: Trey and Dylan Hale, Sam and Peter Quinn, and Quinn and Beck LaMotte. She was affectionately known as “Buppy,” a cherished title lovingly bestowed by her first bonus grandchild, Landyn Krapf.

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Cokesbury Village, Willowbrook Court, and Acts Hospice of Delaware.

A celebration of Bunny’s life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Chandler Funeral Home in Hockessin, DE. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, immediately followed by the celebration of life. In true Bunny fashion, colorful clothing is encouraged!

    Lauren Schindler writes,
Bunny was such a bright light in the pool and every Wednesday I saw her, she made me smile. I loved how she wasn’t afraid to be bold and dye her hair colors and move so gracefully in the water. It was such a pleasure to get to know her and I’m glad that we connected and had Delray Beach as a love in common.

Bunny was truly one of a kind — vivacious, fun, and full of light. She had a way of brightening everyone’s day just by being herself. I feel so lucky to have known her, and I’ll miss her dearly. My heart is with all who loved her during this difficult time. (I am one of Bunny’s Mermaid friends)
