Condolences

    Fred Sears writes,
So sorry to hear that Bryan had passed away. Bryan was a quiet , honest , hard working leader with the Delaware Trust company for years. He was a true gentleman and a great mentor for me during my 18 years at the Delaware Trust Company. As a young U of D grad I accidentally showed up at the Delaware Trust offices at 9th and Market looking for a job. After some confusion I was told to go upstairs to Personnel and see Mr. Colbourn. Less than a week later I was on my first day of work in the Bank’s management training program. Bryan served as a wonderful mentor to all of us in the management trainee program. Eight years later Bryan was promoted to a Senior Management position with the Bank and recommended me to take his position— what an honor. Bryan spent endless hours personally training me and I called on him often to solve various personnel issues at the Bank. A couple of years later I left the bank on a leave of absence to work in the Mayor’s cabinet , but returned only to find Bryan committed to working with me to find the best opportunity for me to return to the Bank’s mgmt team. Bryan was the best mentor/friend I could have had at Delaware Trust. I simply would not have gone on to have a 38 year career in banking without his support for so many years. My deepest condolences to Bruce and the other members of Bryan’s family . Bryan will be remembered with great fondness by me and many many Delaware Trust Company alumni .

I'm sorry to hear of my childhood friend's passing. I recent years I tried unsuccessfully to contact Bryan to share with him a photograph I found of us which was taken on the Harlan School playground in the early 1950's. I remember Bryan as a thoughtful boy whose smile and presence in our classroom and on the playground was a welcome part of our daily lives. R,I.P. old friend; I'm sorry we were unable to cross paths again.

Dear Bruce and Diane, I have known and loved your father for a long, long time. It is with sadness for me to say goodbye. I have so many fond memories of our trips we took, and of course, the Famous Foggies. I extend my sympathy to you and your children. Sincerely, Sonja Pfautz
