Brian Thomas Sweeney

It is with great sadness that our family announces the unexpected passing of our brother Brian Thomas Sweeney, age 61, of Palacios TX, and formerly of Newark DE on Sunday, June 23, 2025.

Brian was born in 1964 to John J. and Annie T. Sweeney of Drexel Hill, PA. He was a graduate of the Upper Darby High School and St. Joseph’s University. Later in life he earned his MD as well as became an entrepreneur by starting his own sales business. Brian loved listening to and playing music and was an avid fan of the Beatles. He was also a talented baseball player and Phillies fan.

Brian was a devout Catholic, and during his years in Newark DE contributed valuable time and service to Saint John Holy Angels Church, even as far as learning to speak Spanish for their Hispanic community members. He will best be remembered for his dedicated passion and his sense of humor.

Brian is survived by his wife Isabella, and his brothers and sisters Donna Sullivan of Cary, NC; John (Sue) of Drexel Hill, PA; Glenn (Stephanie) of Aldan, PA; Kevin (Vicky) of Swedesboro, NJ; and Nancy (Gerry) of Orland Park, IL.

Private service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. John Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711.

Funeral Services

Private service will be held.
