Beulah Mae “B” Paxton

(nee Hawley) (Buzzell/Hastings)

Born in Cecil County, MD April 18, 1929

Passed into glory, Wilmington, DE. December 20, 2020

She lived in Cecil County, attended Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist school and work at Bainbridge Naval base before she first married.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mattie J. (Smith) Hawley Pierce and William P. Hawley, brothers Alfred, David, Donald and James; sisters Thelma Hornberger, Elizabeth “Betty” DiPietro and son Ricky Craig and survived by sister Margaret “Peggy” Hawley.

She is also survived and beloved by daughter Clare Elaine Buzzell Johnson, son-in-law Tom W. Johnson, Jr. and grandchildren Thomas III, Faith Johnson, Joy Brusetti and husband Chris, and Hope Ribaudo and husband Evan. Her great grandchildren were blessed to know her and at times spend vacations and extra time with her. Jocelyn, Lindsey, Beckah, Corey, Christine, Lizzy, Evie, Lydia, Addison, and DaKota.

“B” worked as an LPN, candy store manager, hairdresser, secretary, and operator/owner of Merryland Roller Rink with her late husband John Paxton.

Church was important to B as she was a pastor’s daughter. She was an officer in the Salvation Army, where she also played coronet. Later became a much loved Sunday School teacher as a member of Atonement Methodist Church in Claymont, Delaware. She became a member of First Assembly of God (Five Rivers), Elkton, MD and attended several other churches in Maryland and Delaware.

“B” was active for a time with the Newark Senior Center.

She loved to cook, and especially bake and make candies for holidays, birthdays and weddings, was an accomplished seamstress and taught sewing classes one on one. She loved to travel, go to Disney World and cruise, was an avid reader and loved movies.

She left her earthly body to science. And in-lieu of flowers, condolence cards, etc. the family requests as a memorial that donations be made to the Salvation Army.

She will be greatly missed and always remembered. “Til we meet on those crystal shores” (in Beulahland)

    My family was very close to Bee and John. Both my parent's knew Bee personnelly. I worked for her, she was a very special person inside and out. I will always have great memories of her.
