Ben Trigg Castle

Ben Trigg Castle, age 80 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2019.  He was born in 1938 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Stuart Castle and Mary (Trigg) Castle.

After being raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ben was awarded the Benjamin Franklin full-scholarship, at the age of 18, to attend University of Pennsylvania, where he was the captain of the crew team. In Philadelphia, he met Nikki Krasas, the love of his life, and married in 1962.  He earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and was later admitted to The Delaware Bar in 1965.

Ben Castle was a partner at Young, Conway, Stargatt & Taylor for over 40 years, many of those years were exclusively in personal injury law.  He had the honor of being one of the 100 members, invitation-only Inner Circle of Advocates, a distinction only offered to the best

plaintiff lawyers in the United States. Ben was the only lawyer in the organization from Delaware. In 2010, Ben and his dear friend and fellow compadre, Bruce Hudson, formed Hudson Castle Law.

Ben was a proud Boston Marathoner and avid skier and rower with the Wilmington Rowing Club. During his leisure times, Ben loved family moments at Sherwood, Maryland, observing his children and grandchildren interact with a sunset in view, along with a glass of wine and a book in hand. He was called Ben, Benny, Dad, Grandad, Boss, Mentor and was a friend to many. He will be missed by us all.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Nikki K. Castle and his children Peter Castle (Joan), Dan Castle, and Anne Castle (Boyd Smith).  Ben is also survived by his grandchildren Emily Castle, Connor Castle and Brandon Smith; his siblings Ti Howard, Margaret Bier and Stuart (Pat) Castle and his cousin Mike Castle (Jane). He was predeceased by grandson Benjamin Castle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville on Monday January 14, 2019 where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Survivors of Abuse in Recovery, Inc. (SOAR).

Rick and June Zappa lit a candle and writes,
Nikki, So sorry to learn of Ben’s passing. He was like a big brother to me growing up as a lawyer. There was no one more loved or respected as a lawyer and a person. I had the good fortune of having a reunion lunch with Ben recently. We talked and laughed and belly-ached about the same things. I felt like I was on a time machine back to when I had only the fondest memories of the firm and of Ben’s value as my partner and my friend. I will miss but never forget him. June and I are leaving the country tomorrow morning and will not be able to attend Ben’s services. But we will be thinking about Ben, you and your lovely family all of whom Ben adored. God bless you and your family. Rick

Bruce Hudson lit a candle and writes,
He was not only my law partner but also my best friend. Ben’s picture should be in the dictionary next to the word “gentleman”. He will be so missed by so many.
