Barbara was the daughter of Florence Miller Mack and Walter C. Mack. She grew up in Drexel Hill, PA spending the summers in Ocean City, NJ with extended family. Barbara graduated from Drexel Institute, (now Drexel University), where she met her husband, Harry. After a short clerical career, she became a homemaker, raising five children and volunteering in many activities related to her children and her church. The family spent three years in Geneva, Switzerland when her husband was transferred with the DuPont Co., and while there she enjoyed travel, skiing and trying to learn French.

Barbara was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish for many years and served as the coordinator of the Samaritan Outreach Center and in other volunteer positions. She was a 25-year member of the Junior Board of St. Francis Hospital, and a driver and ride coordinator for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery. She also was interested in genealogy and constructed extensive family trees for the Gorman and Mack ancestors and descendants. Barbara was gracious and generous with her time and resources. She fully appreciated her life.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Harry Gorman, her son, Michael, her sister, Florence (Flossie) Russell and her brother Walter Mack. She is survived by her sister, Marie Tegan of Reading, PA and by her children with their spouses—Harry Gorman and Ann Lemmon of St. Johnsbury, VT, Barbara and Robert Piccirilli of Bay Village, OH, Thomas and Nancy Gorman of Wilmington, DE and Dr. Richard Gorman of Chambersburg, PA, along with daughters-in-law Linda Gorman and Joanne Gorman, 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cokesbury Village for their loving care of Barbara and support of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Barbara’s memory to the Junior Board of St. Francis Hospital, Inc., PO Box 2764, Wilmington, DE 19805 or the Alzheimer’s Assoc., Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
